Preview: FW18 Mini Collection
Samples and done, photos are in, and production is underway for our fall/winter 2018 mini collection. I decided to take a big step back this season and reevaluate our design/production calendar. I've shared it a little bit before in our embracing changes post, but essentially, I wanted to design a little more slowly and even more thoughtfully. Cranking out two collections a year is a lot (kudos to the designers who do four a year, you are incredible) and I didn't like the pressure I was under. After all, if I'm going to run my own business I should do what I want right?
So here is the first step of that, our mini collection. It's tiny with only 3 styles: an a-line skirt, the Kendall Funnel-Neck Pullover, and the Jill Knit Dress. All styles have been well-loved by everyone so I'm excited to release them in their slightly reinvented forms. Rest assured though that more pieces are coming soon with the core collection.
Inspiration for the mini collection came from my elementary school days of wearing a school uniform which included a plaid skirt that stopped at my knees with a white button-down shirt. I'm sure many of you can relate to this uniform. Back then I hated it, now I love it. It's hard to find plaid available in women's clothing so naturally I had to make it happen. To me, plaid is the epitome of fall and winter and it ups the cozy factor on everything. With the plaid skirt, I brought back two of my best sellers to date: the Kendall Pullover and Jill Knit Dress. Keeping these on the racks last year was a major challenge. I envision the pullover being paired with the skirt, maybe with a side tuck to keep things effortless and more modern than old school, school girl. The dress would be great with a tailored blazer for a streamlined look and a crisp, structured cross-body bag.
Because this is a mini, seasonal collection, I am producing these in super small batches with no restocks planned. There will be about 20 of each style and color way available so be sure to snag your favorites fast! I'm so excited to share these new concepts and collections with you all and hope you love them as much as I do!
